For Thanksgiving we always try to hit the road because you only have to take Friday off and it’s a four day weekend. For 2017 we had to change things up a bit. Normally we visit the Caribbean, but this year we were excited to be expecting our first baby and we didn’t feel comfortable going anywhere with Zika. Fortunately, we took an extra day off on Monday and managed to plan a really quick, but fun getaway to Germany and Austria to visit the Christmas Markets, and celebrate the holidays together on our very first babymoon!
We covered a lot of ground in just a few days. Here’s our Itinerary:
Wednesday night, flew overnight to Munich
Thanksgiving day in Munich and drove to Fussen, Germany
Friday at Neuschwanstein Castle, Linderhof Palace, and evening at Innsbruck, Austria
Saturday in Innsbruck, evening at Salzberg, Austria
Sunday in Berchtestgaden and drove back to Munich
Monday, flew back home to the States
Below are some of the pictures and memories from our trip!
#15 A little dark of a picture, but I’m squeezing my baby bump into the mining outfit before the tour at Salzbergwerk Berchtesgaden.
#14 Brian trying the beer at the Hofbrau in Munich.
#13 The Golden Roof in Innsbruck.
#12 The gazebo from the Sound of Music in Salzberg.

#10 Me with a pretzel at the Hofbrau in Munich.

#8 Me with a mug of hot cider at the christmas market in Innsbruck.
#7 Glockenspiel in Munich.
#6 My husband relaxing in a lounge chair on the lower sunny slopes of Innsbruck.
#5 Hafelekarspitze, the top of the Innsbruck cable car. Really really windy up here.
